Difference between Web & Software Development

It’s all software. One is software developed for the OS, the other is software developed for the web. The only difference is the I/O and you are providing a good example of the point I’ve been trying to make.

Yep, I consider Web Development to be making (PHP/ASP) websites, and Software Development making legacy-style (C++/C#/Java/VB/etc.) Windows programs.

As with most software development disciplines, yes there is a difference - The Environment. Although, I’ve always considered Web Development as an arm/branch of Software Development.

While environments vary, the core objectives remain the same - developing software solutions that meet business requirements.

Environments aside, you could apply the same development process practiced in traditional software development (XP, TDD, Waterfall) almost transparently to web development.
