No - your site will be crawled anyway. It will be crawled more frequently if it’s frequently updated, but there’s no point in adding content purely for that purpose.
You must add new content when you have something worth adding. 
This thread is five months old, so I think now would be a good time to close it before it gets any more repetitive.
