You tube is for Video sharing, it cannot be called as a Social Networking site. In other hand sometimes may be we can use it as a Social Media. Thats all.
IMO, the very definition of social networking is to be able to CONNECT to others (the “networking” part), and to INTERACT with others (the “social” part).
YouTube allows you to LOOSELY “connect” with others, but in a very disconnected way. It also allows to you LOOSELY interact with others, but in a restricted/reserved way. Therefore, youtube is CLOSE to a “social networking site”, but it does not qualify. Ergo, it is merely a video sharing website.

You can actually categorize Youtube as a social networking site (partly), because users in it can actually interact and communicate with each other, aside from hosting and sharing videos. You can even post messages in the user’s page.
you tube is not social networking site because people came to find only video and no one can share their view in form of text. Social networking sites are only those where we can find solution of our every problem in form of sites, text or friends help.
