I agree with your points but the same could be said about electronics among other things that can see some practical use relatively quickly. Many choose to have their children instructed in musical instruments because it is much easier to learn when young and it keeps the mind active, and can induce creativity. Of course coding can do the same in different ways, but I think you have to be careful that you are not forcing your child(ren) to be copies of yourself (or yourself 2.0). Unless it is literally harmful to themselves or others, they need to be free to do what they want to do even if you absolutely hate it (think: ‘nerd dad’ has son who plays football).
