About Video Marketing

No. Just. No.

I don’t know you’re associating SEO with bounce rates and videos. The fact that our websites have good rankings despite being attacked by hundreds of spam bots erases the supposed bridge between the two.

From a user’s perspective, don’t use videos in your landing page, unless if they’re on YouTube and were simply embedded. I know there’s a trend wherein videos are used in the background, but it already died down last year. Why? Here are a few of reasons:

  • Performance issues. Auto-playing videos on a landing page will make your loading pages pretty slow.
  • Mobile compatibility. Considering that most users access the Internet via their mobile phones and video landing pages aren’t mobile-compatible, you’re better off avoiding it.
  • It’s an eyesore, unless if your customers has an Internet provider which provides blazing-fast Internet speeds.

Saying that it will help reduce bounce rate is wrong…considering that it’ll likely give the opposite effect. Best of luck though
