Filament group has taken another tactic to responsive tables: display table-celling and nonning per column using classes stating whether the column is necessary or not, with an added JS button letting people select different columns.http://filamentgroup.com/examples/rwd-table-patterns/
According to FilamentGroup, jQuery Mobile is building this technique in.
Looks like a reasonable solution Mallory.
It may be a bit awkward where all fields may be necessary to understand the whole result as you will have to click them on and off to get the overall picture but I see how it could be a useful.
I think I'd rather just have overflow: auto and be able to scroll sideways if need be.
Would depend on the table... for example, I wouldn't use this for a table calendar.
