Filament group has taken another tactic to responsive tables: display table-celling and nonning per column using classes stating whether the column is necessary or not, with an added JS button letting people select different columns.
According to FilamentGroup, jQuery Mobile is building this technique in.
Looks like a reasonable solution Mallory.
It may be a bit awkward where all fields may be necessary to understand the whole result as you will have to click them on and off to get the overall picture but I see how it could be a useful.
I think I'd rather just have overflow: auto and be able to scroll sideways if need be.
Would depend on the table... for example, I wouldn't use this for a table calendar.
