Auto Redirect 404 in 301 for Trashed Posts

I have installed Auto Redirect 404 in 301 for Trashed Posts plugin for my website

www.plgmea.com but unfortunately it is not working ?? Still thousands of dead links are

showing 404 not found error instead of redirecting to main page. One example is as

follows:

http://www.plgmea.com/2011/10/03/nutritional-vitamins-for-health

The above is a dead or trashed link but still it is giving 404 error instead of

redirecting to plgmea.com home page. I appreciate if anyone can guide me ! Also recommend me alternate methods to redirect dead post to my home page.

That link is from the archive, possibly indexed along with the original post link, which may be redirecting properly. You may have missed something that was set on your site before regarding the posts or redirects. You may have to clean that up. Auto redirects aren’t a good practice anyway.
