Best free hosting

Hi.
I need a good and free hosting with php/mysql support for a personal site i am making.

All the site is database driven so the host needs to have fast db connections.
The site will also have some audio/photos not bigger than 3/4mb.

Any suggestions?

Your php and mysql site will also works well on the hosting platform. But if you need better hosting for your website with extensive database connection, it is better you register for a paid hosting account.

Depending on what the site is all about I might consider hosting it for free for you. It has to be for a good cause though. A non-profit or bringing awareness to a problem type of site and it is a done deal. Just PM me if that is the case.

freewebspace.net has a pretty big forum over at freewebspace.net/forums. You should be able to find decent information there, especially if you use the search tool to do your research.

I would suggest to try http://www.novahost.org. I myself tested them, and still have an account with them. Their uptime and speed is impressive.

Most of the people working in the web hosting industry will suggest you to go for a paid hosting service instead of a free one as free web hosting is not reliable, however, from your words it seems that your requirements are not too much and you are not hosting a website from which you would like to earn money, otherwise, I would’ve also suggested you to choose a paid hosting service :wink:

As you are not looking to host an important website, you can choose Google services for free web hosting.

Their uptime and speed is impressive.
Uptime is at 99.74%. While not bad for a free hosting service, it’s not otherwise all that impressive IMHO.

It may just be an unintended side-effect of having that affiliate program though. Lots of people are looking to make a quick buck.

What can you expect from a free web hosting provider :lol:

I know a person who just chose dotneteasy free hosting services and is quite happy with the same. I think you can try it for yourself. However, as it is a free web hosting provider, no satisfaction guarantee :lol:

Wow, I didn’t know “free” meant piece of sh!t lol I can’t imagine anybody EVER needing the type of service these “free” hostings provide. After reviewing the above mentioned I’ll shell out the $5.99 to get a real host. The sites above just prove “there aint nothing for free” I almost feel like they owe me for time wasted…unbelievable.

Well, it is not necessary that a paid hosting provider will offer you good quality services. For this purpose, you need to check the kind of support the hosting provider offers and the time for which the hosting provider has been providing hosting services. Also, sometimes the reviews of the hosting provider would be helpful :slight_smile:
