Can view my pages as www.anything.domain.com?

Hi everyone,

I noticed a strange thing today, the pages on my site can be viewed by typing either www.mydomain.com/folder/page.php or by typing www.absolutely-anything.mydomain.com/folder/page.php

Why on earth can i view my pages through a subdomain that does not exist? These odd subdomains are showing up in google now.

If anyone could help me out here that would be great, i suspect that i am lacking some kind of simple .htaccess command?

You are using what is called a “wildcard domain.” That is anything you use in front will resolve back to the main site. To fix this go to your DNS and tell it only to allow www and the root domain (you want to be able to work with both).

I had to have a chat with my hosts tech support but managed to sort out the problem using the information you gave me.
