CDN, how is it better?

Hi

While I understand what CDN is used for, i wish to know how does using CDN help my website to load faster?

What I mean to ask is, if my browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) is limited to 4 to 6 simultaneous connections, how will implementing a CDN will help me boost the loading time of my webpage.

So, for example if a website has 85 resources (images/js/css) on their homepage on a very hi-end server, will it still take time to load and require a CDN? or CDN are useful ONLY for websites that are hosted off a poor server?

It isn’t about whether your server is high- or low-end. It’s about the server’s proximity to the user.
