CMS / wordpress integration with phpbb3 / gallery / e commerce / classifieds

Hey guys,

new to the site.

I am in the early stages of building my full functioning CMS website, currently i have been running a phpbb forum for years now and wish to now build a site around it.

so basically i want my site to look the same on every page so it feels like your in the same place not visiting different websites.

i like a few themes by rocket themes, yet i wish to run a classified script like [URL=“http://www.appthemes.com/themes/classipress/”]classipress and i like the look of [URL=“http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/”]woo commerce for my e commerce

i currently run phpbb3 forum and magento online store, willing to change store but wish to keep running phpbb3

can anyone help with advice, links etc

and also could anyone be interested in taking on this project ?

really need some guidance here its a little new to me and i want to make a site that is user friendly and clean and tidy !

Wow, you’ve definitely got your hands full on this one…

Are there any CMS systems you’re proficient with? If not then maybe the best thing to do is see how successfully different CMS packages have integrated with PHPBB and then choose the one that provides all of the features you need and has successfully been integrated. Search: “PHPBB CMS Bridge”, “PHPBB Drupal Bridge”, “PHPBB Joomla Bridge”, “PHPBB Wordpress Bridge”, “PHPBB Expression Engine Bridge”, etc…

Hopefully someone with more experience than me joins in the conversation soon. I’ve only made a few lackluster attempts to customize PHPBB and integrate it with various websites. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it all of the forums I’ve been involved with except one didn’t generate any traffic and were abandoned by my clients before we ended up doing anything with them. The one that survived is a vBulletin that I helped build about 10 years ago and it’s still running strong with 9,085 Threads, 55,785 Posts, 8,590. Members but we just customized a theme on it and let it run with a very basic website grafted onto it.

If I were to attempt a PHPBB forum with a CMS and eCommerce I would look at doing it with Drupal because I know it best. I’m sure there are ways to do it with WP, Joomla, EE, etc… but Drupal is the framework I am concentrating on currently. A quick search of “Drupal PHPBB Bridge” brings up a fair bit of content. Probably the most promising is this one: http://drupal.org/project/phpbbforum

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks for your response Andrew ! Your right it is a handful and with wordpress the classified script is a theme not an extension so I was thinking of basin the site off this and then looking for a close phpbb theme and modifying it to suit

I should mention I don’t need a user database bridge although it would be nice it’s going to mean a lot more work I believe

There are wp x phpbb bridges out there I’m not sure how they integrate with classipress
