I have a potential client who would like a widget that amongst other things will play a video, and have a small image slide show. My question is, will the likes of JPlayer pull a video file cross domain? if so could someone please give me a code snippit as an example?

As far as I'm aware, yes.
Just put the full URL to the video file as the source.

Ok thankyou for your reply! Another question I have is, in the instructions (http://www.jplayer.org/latest/quick-start-guide/step-7-audio/) its telling you to add the various scripts to the document head - being a widget I cannot guarantee where it will be placed, is this likely to effect the player? does it have to be in the head?

I'm not sure what you mean by "widget". This doesn't appear to be a listed feature.
But, you don't have to include the code in the head. It can be included in the body.
