I am very new to online databases and am looking for an instructional resource to help me create my first one.
I found a great article by Kevin from SitePoint (MySQL :: Building a Database-Driven Web Site Using PHP and MySQL), but it seems outdated b/c it refers to Windows NT and 2000. Not that these OS’s are obsolete, but I am wondering if I should be getting more current instructions.
I am using WestHost and I’m not sure which OS (not in a position to check right now).

Kevin is the author of a book called “Build Your Own Database-Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL” which is in its 4th edition. I think the article that you link to is the article that was used as the basis for the 1st edition of his book.
