Difference between visual stdio 2008 and visual stdio 2010

I only worked on Visual stdio 2008 and want to work upon 2010…I don’t know detail about 2010 version …Tell me about its feature against 2008…

There are certainly a number, but there is one that really matters – supported versions of the .NET framework. 2008 supports 2.0 and 3.5, 2010 supports 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0.

You probably want 2012 as that supports 2.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5. And 2013 is coming down the pipe soon with support for .NET 4.5.1

By the developer point of view Visual Studio 2008 is best. If you are beginner and wanted to learn Visual Studio it is best and you do not need to install VS 2010 up to the advance level. Only some functionality are more in VS2010 instead VS2008 which are not useless but I have never felt that I can use it. So install visual studio 2008 and enjoy programming.

I would argue that 4.0 brought enough features that you should certainly be looking towards that version of the framework if not getting straight to 4.5 to get loads more goodies. The 3.5-based stuff is quite legacy at this point and I certainly wouldn’t encourage anyone to learn on that version.

Yes, I also agree with this. It is better to use the more advanced version of the language. As it has a lot of benefits. I would suggest getting the latest version of the framework and VS that you can and start learning that

Once you get your head around WPF you really wouldn’t bother with windows forms IMHO. It might well have become the default option which also might be why one sees it a bit more.
