<div> doesn't include all content

Oh dear. I should know the answer and I know it’s bound to have been asked before, but I can’t find the answer.

I want my wrapper div to include everything, including my footer area. I know it’s because of the floated elements and I thought adding a clear:both in the footer would solve it, but it doesn’t.

If you put overflow:hidden; on the <div>, that will ensure that it extends to include all floated child elements.
