EcmaScript?

Hi people,

Just few basics questions regarding EcmaScript.

Is EcmaScript the mother of JavaScript?
Correct me If I’m wrong.

And the current latest version of EcmaScript is version 5 ?
Correct me again if I’m wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Javascript is an implementation of ECMAScript (as is JScript and apparently ActionScript)

thanks dave.

i think netscape is the mother of javascript. and ECMA script is a daughter, after it was released to ECMA by nescape/mozilla. there are dozens of cousins as well. it’s quite a large family.

EcmaScript is widely used for client-side scripting, several well-known based on EcmaScript is JavaScript(Netscape) JScript(Microsoft). It is invented by Brendan Eich who is woking in Netscape and the first edition for Netscape Navigator browser.

Since the OP got the answer needed, I’m closing it to prevent more fluff from coming in. solidcodes, if you want it re-opened, feel free to PM me.
