CMS & WordPress
I have a client who'd like visitors to her site to type in their email address in order to be able to download pdfs. Now, I was thinking that wordpress might be suitable but then you'd need to register and a password would be required so this is probably our of the question.
Does anybody know of a cms or script of any sort that would enable such a basic system as this? It would be useful if each email entered goes into a database - I see no security issues if users are going straight to a page just to download a few pdfs...am I wrong here?
If you guys recommend that users should register first and require a password I will pass on this recommendation. Is anything more streamlined to a system like this than wordpress?
Thank you for any assistance,
Hi Dan, are you talking about giving a user access to one pdf...like a free report someone would get when signing up for a newsletter...or a section where multiple pdfs would be listed for registered users to get access?
The easy way for either is to just use an email service provider and get folks to register for your newsletter - then you can link to the pdf or a download page directly in the first email you send to them - or redirect to a download page immediately after registration. You can use wordpress to create a page that's hidden and not included in your main navigation pretty easily.
If you want something more like a membership website, take a look at amember which I'm sure works with wordpress - but probably has a bunch of features you may not need that you'll be paying for.
