Exploring social marketing

Hi,
I am comfortable with SEO and I still need to explore social marketing to get traffic and conversions to my site.

Please suggest me about some basic techniques to explore social networks to build traffic.

If you have products you can always demo the products off in a video. Then make sure to use keyword rich title descriptions. This will help folks find the video. If you provide a SaaS based product you can demo that as well.

If you are a consultant or provider you can always record videos with tips, tricks and thoughts. Once again use descriptive title tags.

It’s also important to remember that social media is multi-directional. It’s not just about you putting information in front of your audience. It’s also about listening to audience feedback and building relationships. There’s more immediate give-and-take to social than any other marketing medium. If you’re always talking at your fans/followers instead of listening and responding you’ll become that guy who’s always turning the conversation back to himself… nobody really wants to talk to that guy.

Social is a big field so let’s start by understanding a little more about your goals first…

What sort of industry are you looking to promote a business in?

Do you have an established customer base? Are they creating any content on your behalf [reviews, testimonials, videos, photos, etc].

Do you have any staff that can create relevant content or drive expert opinion in the field?

What is your business goal for a social media program? Are you ok with engaging rather than immediately selling? Do you understand why I’d ask?

Social Media is a place to create awareness to the public. When people know about your products and they have the need, only they will buy.

The concerns here are how to create the awareness and how to let the public have the need to buy from you.

Social can create awareness and more and more traffic is coming from social sites these days… but one of the most direct ways social drives actual sales is by validating purchase decisions.

Research figures vary but it’s clear that in the western world, somewhere between 70 and 80% of people are using user reviews on a regular basis. If for example you lack those reviews or have too few reviews or all 5 star reviews you’re most certainly not just failing to get more sales, you’re losing ones you already had headed your way.

Flip it around and you have enourmous opportunity for people to discuss and support each other in the proper use and need for a product. Marketers don’t see every angle and our desire to “spin” turns our words into non-sense. Let the user explain their own uses and pros & cons and you get a whole new application, a whole other set of qualifications and you can see sales go up again, or returns go down.

Yes, reviews ith starhelp taking a decision. Nice reviews with stars will give a boost to companies.

Marketing on the social networking websites is one of the most efficient ways to get traffic. However this is a slow process, initially you must focus on developing contacts. Once you are connected with the people who might be interested in your products/services, it will become easy for you to promote products or blogs. The social networks like Facebook and Twitter can be used to market almost any types of products. However it is essential to develop a customer base first.

try adding a blog on your site and regularly change it. this may give some of your clients something to check on from time to time. And maybe make a contest out of it, who ever wins gets a price…

ALL tips and points are well solid and related so here i also have some ideas as if one make any blog related with the field then work for that blog to bring it in nice ranking that also can refer a good amount of traffic to the site so according to you what if i do this is it will be ok or not

As others have mentioned, it depends what kind of business you have and what you want to get out of it. Awareness is great, but you have to make sure you’re marketing in the right place.B2C would primarily go on Facebook, for example, while B2B would go on LinkedIn.

Here are some tips that you could probably use my friend -

  1. Explore and Create accounts for all major social media properties like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (company profile) and a Blog (Private or Public).
  2. Always use you social properties in promotions of your products. (Links to your Facebook & Twitter to let people know that you are there for them).
