FB, Twit Follow buttons

Searching FB, I see the ‘like’ button seems to be the closest thing to a standard button. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ But what if a website visitor only wants to visit the FB page? Is the website operator forced to make/find his or her own button and link himself? Recall seeing somewhere where they only recommend using the new plugin buttons. Still looking for their policy on making/downloading your own buttons…

Searching Twit, I see their follow http://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons#follow but what about any buttons gotten from thrid party sources, same question – would rather not go with the minute graphic. Possibly larger & shaded to my site colors / javascript rollover effect – anyone know their policy on this/page resource?

You’re not limited to using their own buttons… you can use any graphic and link it to your social media page with regular html.

<snip>

Di they specify what can be used as their buttons? (dimensions, font, etc)

Not as far as I know, and even if they do, they’re unlikely to enforce it!
