Since a couple of months ago, Word files and Excel files don't open first pop.
I might open a folder, double click a file and instead of the program opening followed by the file, only the program opens. I gotta go back to the folder and click the file again, then the file opens! Sometimes I get a message saying Windows cant' find the file and shows the path it was using - which is correct - and, as I said, when I click the file again, it opens. This ritual above does not happen every time but enough to be annoying.

This might be because of you are using an old version of MS? Have you tried upgrading your program?
By MS you could mean word or you could mean windows, but either way no, Outlook Express does it too, and it is a relatively new phenomenon after years of use without this annoyance.
