Finding Checksums for Software

Got a new MacBook Pro, and when I am downloading and installing software, I am trying to check the “checksum” for each app.

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find any for either FileZilla or TextWrangler, which seems strange.

Because I will be using FileZilla to manage my website, I want to be extra certain that I am g=installing a legitimate copy of the app.

How can I do that??

Sincerely,

Debbie

Simply download directly from their websites.

http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/

The command is md5 $filename

That said, if you are using FTP to upload your files then I would probably worry about that more than checking the hashes on binaries, especially if you downloaded them from the “horses mouth” so to speak.

Hello Deb,
Have you tried actually searching and downloading them ?
