Getting Better Sleep

Alright guys, here’s my first attempt at creating a topic here at Sitepoint. It’s random as all hell, I know, but I think that you guys might enjoy this. So since I moved to LA, I’ve been having a really difficult time sleeping. It’s nothing new: I’m a terrible sleeper. I’ve tried different prescription sleep aids, Advil PM, and just basic stuff like exercising a few hours before bed/not exercising a few hours before bed, reading before bed, etc…

So as I was browsing for tips and tricks on how I can sleep better, I came across this cool infographic (not completely sure why a VoIP company has an infographic on how to sleep better, but I found it tremendously helpful, nonetheless). I followed every step, diligently, this time, and have been amazed at how much better I’ve been sleeping.

What do you guys think? Any special tips on getting a good night’s sleep?

When I was freelancing my sleep patterns were terrible.

If I felt I was getting somewhere I’d work through the night until crashing round 4pm the next day. Then I’d sleep until around 1am, and get back on it.

Nightmare.

Now I work as an employee for a small agency, my sleeping patterns are much better.

I try meditating when I have difficulty sleeping. Or reading a very long, dry, boring educational text of some type.

I like this idea. Not sure why it never occurred to me…

Well, exercise and meditation can help.

You could also drink a glass of warm milk and definately you should turn off any electronic device, or at least keep it as far as possible from you (mobile phone, router, even you shouldn’t have the TV on standby). Their waves make sleeping more difficult.
