I have developed a library that I am calling Gitdown (https://github.com/gajus/gitdown)

Gitdown is a markdown preprocessor for Github. Gitdown streamlines common tasks associated with maintaining a documentation page for a Github repository. Things like:

  • Generating table of contents
  • Finding dead URLs in the documentation
  • Using variables from Github environment
  • Including markdown files

I am here to hear your thoughts about the usefulness of the tool and suggestions for improvement.
