It is great hosting. Few of my friends have it and they are satisfied
We have the VPS account with Hostgator and I’ve not been very impressed with performance. We have a single Magento site on this account plus a couple of tiny, almost no traffic Joomla sites. We started off with a level 3 server and almost immediately had to upgrade to level 6, just to get Magento working without errors every other page load. In short it’s a massive amount to spend on hosting a single site - so I wouldn’t recommend this for Magento at all and we’re just about to move to new hosting because of it. They even said themselves that we’d probably be better off with shared hosting because we’d have more RAM and CPU on shared than a VPS level 6 
On the up side, their support is excellent and the response times are almost immediate, so they can’t be faulted on that.
Do you recommend it hostgator for .gr domain, or is better European hosting?
