You need to learn the basic concepts of designing before you design a logo. Concepts like design balance, typography usage, color themes and their usage. <snip>

You can use adobe photoshop. Tons of tutorial and trick are available online or try watching some of the tips and tricks in youtube and follow their instructions.

If you have talent and an artistic feel, you should be able to create logos by drawing them on paper. Then learning Adobe Illustrator would be easy. Creativity is the key.
