How much to charge for an eccommerce site?

I have been searching around the internet and surprisingly it is really hard to find web design companies that put prices on how much they charge for an Ecommerce website. More specifically a Magento Website.

I have undercharged in the past… probably more then 50% of my projects I have been under charging.

I was wondering how much would you guys charge for the following:

  • Magento Installation
  • 10 categories
  • 30 products
  • SSL (my cost 45$ year)
  • Unique IP (60$ year)
  • Implement purchased template (Template cost 100$)
  • Customize colors slightly
  • 1 to 5 information pages
  • Hosting (VPS 300$ year)

If you can just give me a ball park number that would be great!

EXPENSES

  • So my costs other then my time will be:
  • SSL 45$
  • Unique IP 60$
  • Template 100$
  • VPS 300$
  • -----------
  • 505$

LABOUR
How much should I charge for the following:

  • Magento Installation
  • Template implementation
  • Template customization (nothing too advanced)
  • Cost per information page
  • Impentation of SSL, Unique Ip any server configuration such as email.
  • Cost per category
  • Cost per item

I myself would be looking at about €3,500 minimum for what you have described. Magento is a beast!

Another pricing option is to look at the affiliate payments
revenue from a recurring billing solution.

You can get the cart up faster, with more features
out of the box, sell it cheaper and still make significantly
more money over the life of the customer than selling a
1 time job.
