How to unblock sites

China has banned Google, facebook and youtube, etc. Theyuse freegate mostly. What if I want to bypass block and access sites. Don’t recommend proxy. I can use via proxy bypass sites. But i need something like hacking. Also, are there any software that could be used for that?
Moreover, how to block somesites that I don’t want others to visit from my computer? Like facebook. How do some office management block facebook at all on all PCs?

That’s going to be difficult, those sites are blocked for a reason (good reason or no notwithstanding).
If you don’t want to go the proxy way, I don’t think many people here will be able to help you (esp. not with hacking).

As for how you can block sites, you’ll need a proxy or a firewall for that too. That way you can define a bunch of URLs you want to block.

You mean you are trying to bypass your country’s internet filtering, which is a criminal offence to look at dubious material outlawed by your own government? Well, that is your business and the SPF forum cannot really help you with that as it would go against the forum rules.

However, concerning securing your own PC or home network from children accessing inappropriate and corrupting material like ‘Social Media’ sites we can discuss here. Though it might be better to post in one of the more dedicated SPF forums here if you want more than generic advice.

Like Alex said, usually either a hardware or software Firewall is implemented. Also an Access Control Lists are typically used on medium sized company routers to act as proxy servers blocking or allowing IP values that resolve to URLs for specific machines or networked groups. Typically they use a blacklist or white-list of sites, or words including wildcards, etc.

I’m asking that just for knowledge. If it was because my country blocked some sites and I want to visit them, then proxy sites are their which is much easier way.
WEll, about blocking sites, you mentioned something hardware fire wall. Can you tell something more about that?
Or any software that could easily allow us to add the sites that we want to block. ANd yes, its about blocking facebook and porn sites.

It is still illegal in Pakistan and no doubt you will be monitored and logged by your government’s security services if you keep using anonymous proxies, to bypass the countrywide blacklisted filtered content on that scale.

Typically free anonymous proxies are a big security risk in themselves regardless of which sites you visit through them. As they can be easily compromised or have eavesdroppers and interceptors sniffing and stealing the communications that you pass through them.

Hardware Firewalls can differ and most broadband routers have them as does Windows have software firewalls but a firewall can do various things depending upon its design and purpose. Windows 7 and Windows Vista both include “parental controls” that cover such things as limited child usage, etc. Even Win XP has Content control to help filter material not suitable for children such as Facebook.

So how to use this in xp? Can you help a little about hardware block procedures also?

Why you want to unblock the sites…It is not good thing.

Oh! Really?

Web control is under IE security options. Regarding hardware, any router will include its own firewall which you need to configure for that. The router will have its own software to do so. Doing it by software is more flexible and provides more possibilities but also it is easier to hack.

Hardware only firewalls or proxies based their configuration on jumpers. Each jumper may have a cap or not. If the jumper has its cap on, then it means that a particular options has been chosen. If the cap is off, the contrary options is the chosen one.

Different combinations of jumpers/caps gives you different configurations. And, of course, it is harder to hack because the hacker needs to be there physically to change the configuration and hence it is more secure. But, of course, it is less flexible.

Pretty much like your hard drive if you want it to act as a primary hard drive or as a slave. You put the cap on the right jumper

I think that proxy is the only possible method and there’s no other way.

I know the proxy sites. But I want to do it manually. I need to learn that.

Well, now you’re trying to go against the Chinese internet by yourself, and it’s probably illegal too. I would recommend actually getting tor browser, aurora, it’s like a proxy but not really, it’s just like a separate browser where everything is unblocked but it’s a bit slower.
