That’s the gyst. I set the body selector at slightly under the usual 16 pixel default for body copy, then base the overrides in the stylesheet on that. But I think Jonathan Snook’s whole point about ems actually misses a greater aspect of using ems. It’s not just about being able to resize per browser and user. Yes, that is one aspect. But using ems gives more precise control over the visuals, text size being a great part of that. It gives us the fine tuning size control on par with print layout tools, that having to use whole pixel values completely misses. I can use ems to get the equivalent of 12.5 pt, rather than being stuck with either 12px or 13px.
