Large amounts of traffic going directly to random pages

I’ve been seeing 30-70% of the traffic headed to one of my websites going directly to a couple of pages that I never actually created on the website. They are going to a products.html and testimonials.html page. I’ve recently created placeholder pages for these so that if these are real people at least they see something other than an 404 error.

I’m just really confused about what this traffic is and why they are linking directly to those pages… Any help is appreciated.

One thing you could do to maybe find out where the traffic is coming from is do the following searches in Google

http://MySite.com/products.html

Make sure you have the quotation marks around it. If any page has that url as text this search will find it for you.

The other option to search for in Google is

link:http://MySite.com/products.html
Make sure that there are no spaces in that. This will show you what pages are linking to your product pages.

Be finding where the traffic is coming from may give you an idea of why they dreamed up the URL!

I did the link search in google and it’s coming up with nothing. I’m still getting an extraordinary amount of traffic to that page and it’s really low quality traffic. Most of it is bouncing away right away. It leads me to believe that it’s not actually human traffic but it’s REALLY screwing up my analytics on the REAL traffic. Is there any way I can just block those pages from my analytics?
