would be grateful for some feedback on 2 potential design amends to our website.
The current look is here http://www.mcsuk.org
The brief is to make it look more vibrant and give a feeling of the ocean, whilst still looking professional. We don't have the time for a complete re-design so this is more of a skinning of what we already have, the current website also works pretty well, just want to freshen up the look.
So i have 2 drafts i would like comments on. The design is the same for both so i would appreciate
A. Comments on the look (i know the background splash isn't that great right now). Does it look professional? any suggestions on a splash background, examples etc
B. Comments on the 2 centre layout options. draft_1 has a bigger news area (will also change the grey boxes for thumbnails). draft_2 has the 3 centre boxes (again needs more work). Which do you prefer as a layout and why. Any example of better layouts.

I personally love the changes, I feel the background makes the website look more friendly and vibrant. I do not know if it is just me but the website with the background took significantly longer to load which might hurt you in the long term. If you can find a way to fix that then I'd say go with the new changes. I hope my review helped,

Great design and nice Color combination the layout which you have attached.I will suggest draft_2 because it is simple and have professional look. Before redesigning your website please check the SEO values of Your site.

Definitely good update! You need to add social media buttons above the fold in addition to the ones on the bottom! I personally like draft_1 more because it has slightly more information. This website is already simple so I think draft_2 is oversimplifying it with the information you are providing. Love the colors!

I prefer Draft 1 too! It's slimmer and the news features are laid out in a friendlier way and just look slicker.
I like how the top image fades out fairly swiftly to avoid the site looking too cluttered.
I agree with Hesallin, you may want social media links towards the top of the site too. If the links are unmissable you're more likely to get people interacting with them.
Hope this helps!
