MS vs. MSE degree?

Simple question… what is the practical difference between an MS (Master of Science) and MSE (Master of Science in Engineering) degree offered by graduate schools? I see engineering programs that award MS degrees, and others that award MSE’s in the same majors, and I can’t find a good explanation of the meaning.

Nobody else knows either, huh… guess I’ll have to go to one of those graduate open houses and ask around.

From my understanding there is very little difference. It’s most likely down to the curriculum and what university is offering the degree.

The best place to ask this question is the university offering it. I’ve known engineering degrees to be offered to students studying towards a masters over those taking an undergraduate degree so it may be something to do with that.
