I tried to make the BubbleUnder page, but I keep getting some weird symbol and and upside-down question mark at the top of the page. Anybody got and idea what's wrong? I am using Firefox. When I try it in Internet Explorer I get this at the top of the page:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8/>
Here's the html:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
<html xmlns= "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<title>Bubble Under-The diving club for the south-west UK</title>
<p>Diving club for the south-west UK-let's make a splash!</p>

Hi baemiller, welcome to the forums,
Sounds like a BOM. When you save the file with your text editor, make sure it's NOT saved as UTF-8 with a BOM/signature
And if you're using something like MS Word to work with your files, try using a plain text editor like Notepad++ instead.
It will help save you from encountering more character encoding issues.

Okay, I'm saving it as a UTF-8, per the instructions in the book. I'm using the standard Notepad to save it in. So I guess my question is, how do I know if it has a BOM signature, and what is that anyway? What is weird is that all the lessons up until this were fine. When I removed all the body and saved it as my index, it started doing this. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
