What is a designer to do if they are looking to enter the work force again but has not been in the game for almost 5 years? A lot has changed since I’ve been working. Technology has grown and I have not been keeping up.
Any suggestions?
Take it easy, go step by step and create a plan to update your skills and get them fit in the shortest time possible (and follow it, obviously) and, over all, enjoy what you do 
I’m actually in the process of organising a Talk with the Experts session with a designer who can give advice about putting together a portfolio and making yourself marketable. Keep your eye out for that in December or January.
