I am now in ecommerce business with little bit knowledge?
Some say magento is best and some preferred OS commerc so provide me answer what is best and plz provide me reason if possible
I would say Magento is the best Ecommerce solution widely used. Magento has ‘Store View,’ which allows online shop keepers the ability to set up multiple stores— with the same products, at different prices, and even in different languages— from a single admin area.
Pls i need an opensource ecommerce cms software that affords me the opportunity to create a customized template like wordpress. Which should i go for. I noticed oscommerce does not allow that.

Magento is more popular platform so you’ll always be able to get any help, advices, find any extension that you need.
I do not get last post. And osCommerce is not popular and you can not get help?
Magento is better in terms of what it allows you to do and the customer experience (which is of primary importance). It also has a lot of API hooks for a whole lot of stuff and is well supported. But you really need to have your own server. The free version on a shared platform is probably more problems than you want.
OSCommerce is well supported, popular and lots of websites use it and make money with it.
For a big “swish” ecommerce website where I expected to be putting through a lot of customers (and I want the scalability in case my website really takes off) I would choose a paid version of Magento. I would want it on my own server or with a hosting company that specialises in Magento.
But if it was just a flower shop website with low turnover on a shared hosting package I would go for OScommerce.

I would recommend Magento over OSCommerce. Like Ingenyes said, it’s got better support and more mods/extensions etc. I’ve not heard of people having problems with shared hosting and Magento though.
Both are good and would work well, but I’ve heard more good things about Magento than OSCommerce
Magento is more recommended as the system is more user-friendly over OS Commerce. However, Magento takes more server resources, you might need higher server specs when your site is growing.
I meant that Magento platform is more popular than osCommerce, Magento community is bigger and more active. Don’t you agree with me?
I would agree that Magento is the better shopping cart but the resources needed to support it are probably a bit of overkill for a small, low activity ecommerce site. But the problem is growth.
If your website starts to take off and you need to upgrade it then there is a clear and easy upgrade path with Magento. There is also a heap of developers for custom solutions. Check this out:
There is nothing worse than getting to a certain point in your business and realising that you are going to have to switch to something more heavy duty. Migrating databases between different shopping carts can be a real nightmare and expensive. Also, the last thing you want is for your business to start generating real income and then have it fall in a heap because what you are using isn’t scalable and migrating it causes even more problems for users than staying with what you’ve got.
If you think there is a real chance that your ecommerce site will really grow then start off with Magento.
i would recommend Magento for sure. It gives ample of features which you can’t get in OSCommerce. It is more SEO friendly.

Magento is more popular, no doubts, but popularity does not make it better. There are projects, where magento is a fit. I say projects with larger scale and funding. Oscommerce is getting job done quick and cost efficient.
We can add more to the pool that can compete with magento and oscommerce. Take CS-Cart as example.

When you want more advanced and more flexible online tool for online store then Zen Cart is the best option. It is a little smaller in weight and it has everything essential for online business. All changes to the system are done through the admin panel.
