I am looking for a service that allows you to upload photos to it (via an API) so the customer/end-user can then order prints of the photos.
In short, I have a family photo gallery online and the biggest request I get is they want to order prints of several of the photos. Currently they either come to our place and show us which ones, or they tell us the image name and we find them and send them to their local Walgreens for pickup.
I've checked Walgreens, and it seems their developer API is specifically for Android and iOS and not for a Website to interact with (from their forum, it looks like they might release a RESTful API in September of this year). I also am looking at snapfish, but they are doing beta invites only right now and I don't even know if they allow Website interaction or not (seems like it would since it uses OAuth and OpenSocial implementations).
I'm not looking to make any money off the transactions, just want a hassle-free experience for my family and one that doesn't involve me constantly finding, uploading, and then submitting their photo orders.
Anyone know of such a service?
Is Shutterfly any use? I've never used it myself. An elderly friend has relatives who regularly send her photos via Kodak Galleries, which seems to do what you want, but they're about to close and transfer all their pictures to Shutterfly. A quick look suggests they will provide a similar service.
Hope that helps. :)
Take a look at Pwinty.com. I will be using them to allow my customers to order reprints of photos they took in my photobooth. I also wrote the Python API wrapper for them.
