ok just replying to this incase anyone else has a similar problem. The problem was that the software I installed was having issues with the url strings that wordpress uses so I installed the software to my root ie on mysite.com/liveevents instead of mysite.com/wp-content/themes/mytheme and it all worked fine!!!
