Question about YouTube

This guy I’m hosting a site for wants me to put up a video clip he provided, but I don’t want the bandwidth on my servers so he agreed that I could put it on YouTube and then embed it into one of his webpages.

I’ve never gotten around to doing anything with YouTube before…so my question is:
Can you upload a QuickTime video file to YouTube as is?

OR, would I need to convert it to some other file format first and then upload?

[FONT=“Georgia”]Yup, you can upload as is.

You can now also upload videos “unlisted”, meaning that they won’t turn up in Youtube search, but you could still share the link around or embed it onto your webpage.

gr00vey kooL, man…sure beats hosting video on my serverspace!

I’d hate for something to go viral and I get a bill for $18,000 in
excessive bandwidth charges due to thousands of people viewing a video

I’ve heard a couple of stories like that back before YouTube came along.

When it comes to Youtube, there aren’t much worries on whether a certain file type is allowed or not. As far as I know Youtube accepts nearly every popular video/audio file except flv who knows they might even accept that now too.

Google is your friend.

Quicktime is supported according to that page.

OK, thanks
