My inkjet printer automatically aligns the printheads...but now it's saying "Printhead Alignment Failed"
Does this mean the printheads are bad and need to be replaced?
Or, is there some alignment I can do? Maybe pull them out and re-install?

Certainly it would be worth taking them out and putting them back in to see if it corrects the issues. On the colour ink jet printers I have used you have to print test pages and change software values via drop-down increments to align them.
Perhaps it will say how to fix this issue in your printer help files?

No worries, there was nothing to loose by trying that quick simple method.
