I wonder if anyone can help me with this. I’m setting up a forum and I propose to link it to a user-entered links directory hosted on the same site. This directory used URLs with the form ?id=xx, and then redirects users to their URL.
What I’d like to do is set up the profile information within the links directory and have users just add the ID of the link in their profile. The reason for doing this is measurement, and to have a nice list shown in the links directory of top links visited etc.
But this also means all the profile links would actually point inside the same site before being redirected. Can anyone comment on the likely SEO ramifications of this way of doing things - ie does the redirect prevent pagerank being passed to the external URL?
