The main difference between Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) is that traffic coming from SEO (organic) is free while traffic generated from PPC is not free (as the name implies you have to pay a cost per click).

PPC also has the ability to give you traffic and results instantly, whereas SEO is a more long term strategy. It can take a long time for your site to get ranking, but once it has been it will deliver traffic for free

SEO is all about boosting your site’s rank in organic searches. PPC campaigns are paid listings. The two columns populate using the same search terms, but they are not related.
SEO boosts your organic listings, PPC boosts your paid listings.
For your PPC and SEO campaigns, you’ll want to focus on those search terms and making sure they work. However, a great PPC campaign will not affect your organic search listing. So, if you’re tweaking your keywords in your PPC campaign, make sure you do so with your SEO and vice-versa.

SEO is for organic search results and it's free, but it take way more work to do and manage.
PPC is, of course, paid advertising, and is easier to set up and manage. It's expensive though.
