Site does not work without "www"

Hello everyone,
I have a question that I thought someone could help me with. What would be the reason, that if I place my URL in the web browser URL field, that if I do not include the “www” the site will not work and the browser will display a page not found error? In my company’s marketing pieces they want to display without the “www”. Our domain is hosted at Network Solutions. Thank you for any help you can offer.

You need to properly configure your DNS on Network Solutions. You probably have an A record pointing “www” to your web server’s IP address, but you also need “@” pointing to the server as well (on some hosts this is just blank). Check with the NS documents to make sure you do it right, since you don’t want to interrupt traffic to your site, email, or whatever. The information you need is probably on [URL=“http://www.networksolutions.com/support/a-records-ip-addresses/”]this page.

Cool I’ll definitely check that out. Domains and hosting issues are not my strength
