I had a meeting with our data protection officer this week (that’s a proper full-time position over here), as I had to find out what information I am allowed to save about users in an app I am currently building. His answer was draconian, as expected, but in the course of the conversation he made me aware of this: http://www.wired.co.uk/magazine/archive/2012/12/start/privacy-versus-facebook

I know it’s a bit old, but it does make for jaw-dropping reading.
