Hi I have IMAP on Outlook connecting to my gmail account, I want to do a cleanup and am therefore deleting some big emails through outlook which can sort by size, however the emails don’t get deleted automatically from Gmail. Why is this so and how can I fix it? Thanks
Rather than hitting delete, move to trash folder.
Gmail is wired to be against deletion – actually didn’t really have that function out of the door back in 2003. Remember, it wants to be able to index your life and serve the right ads. Can’t do that with deleted mail.
Probably because you are using IMAP so the files actually reside on the server itself until they are properly deleted from the ‘deleted folder’ or the bin is empted thus having been purged.
