I have been working on a website for a company that manufactures rifle components. the website is http://mdttac.com
The new design is http://mdttac.com/magento/
I am looking for feedback on overall look, professionalism and user friendliness.
Also, does the new site show clearly what it does?

Just went live with the site. Just go directly to the main url.

Pretty nice site, a bit slow to load, are you using compression and are the images optimised?
I'm in the UK so that may explain it, are you expecting overseas visitors?
I do find it a bit too grey (gray) though, maybe add some colo(u)r somewhere?

Not bad. Obviously a pre-made template. At least it's not table based as so many of them are. No DTD. Not sure why the Validator didn't pick that up.
It's decent, but since it is a pre-made template, it is very ordinary. Nothing special. Looks like 1,000's of other Websites.

I found it slow to load also, but I find that is the case with so many of the pre-made templates. WordPress sites are among the worst in that regard.
I agree that it was a bit colorless, but maybe that's what they wanted. Otherwise, not too bad.

Thanks for your comments.
I didn't have gzip compression enabled. It is enabled now and I think the site is faster.

In studying to learn how to build a Joomla! template, I learned why there is no DTD (Document Type Declaration). HTML5 doesn't require it. However, there is a word of caution that goes with using HTML5; it may be a problem for IE8:
You should be aware that this will not work well in Internet Explorer 8 or earlier without a hack. You might
want to investigate this situation and your clients' wishes before deciding on which doctype you want to use.
Since I'm using Windows XP, IE 8 is the highest version of IE I can use :(. Not ready to buy a new computer just yet; mine is working just fine!

I do like the look of the site, very clean, but i always liked MAC designs And the colors fit a website that sells weapons components. It loads ok for me so i consider it a nice job.

i love the clean, compact, and tidy, feel of it all. i could only recommend 2 small things:
1: it might be a good idea to make the links in the header and menu have more padding around them so that users on mobile devices can hit them easier (all thumbs, remember?)
2: under "product reviews" it might be a good idea to float the thumbnail left right the title to the right side of it and a bit of space between the image-and-title and the content below it

I would like to say the following improvement:-
Your site has some validator errors that you might want to solve.
I could not open the second link. I found some of the unnecessary links in the top bar.
I would like to re-think on this top bar right side link - Click here to swich to our Canadian site - also the flag that comes on both websites once it is switched to it.

I think it is a simple layout and let's people immediately know what is going on and where they are. The dark colors provide a somber mood to the site but that might be what you are going for.
Why is there a 'Where to Buy' at the top when you can buy on the site? Maybe change that to retailers?
I would make the bottom images completely clickable, rather than just the text. Some might not realize you have to click the text. I didn't initially.

Design is quite nice, but you can enhance it with embedding new features and tools.
