Hi, I am getting weird hits from this ip and statcounter says it is facebook bot

statcounter is unable to determine which page it is going to I have added facebook like box on my site, is this really facebook bot and if so what is it doing on my site.

To me, someone’s using a “Facebook connection” to hit your website so be sure that EVERYTHING is exactly as you uploaded as you may have been hacked.

When you have content that is shared on facebook, facebook pings back to grab page information e.g title, an image to provide a preview. It’s a legit ip. Even without like buttons you could still get activity from this bot if somebody shares a link to your page on facebook. If statcounter operates via javascript then it’s unlikely to be executed via a page load by a bot.
