What is the difference between http and https?

We can use a multiple sites on web. But some sites open with http and some sites open with https … Please anybody tell me what’s the main difference …
Thanks,

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, it’s the technology used for downloading pages, images, music etc. from the internet. HTTPS is a secure variation of HTTP, where all traffic between you and the website is encrypted, making it more difficult for people to eavesdrop.

well this is not the correct category to post in, but https is a secure version for data transmission over internet and use ssl while http is less secure way for communication

Remember to check for the https protocol for the pages you involve in the transaction of credit card or banking information.

The main difference between http:// and https:// is It’s all about keeping you secure** HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transport Protocol. If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://. This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular ‘unsecure’ language.

https is SSL protected area, search engines robots can’t access it (that’s why those pages don’t have a PR) and you are basically more secure there.

http stands for hyper text transfer protocol which is responsible for transmitting and receiving information across the Internet where as https is secure http, which is used exchanging confidential information with a server, which needs to be secured in order to prevent unauthorized access.

Knowledge learned, thanks guys.

HTTP is a system for carrying and receiving info across the Internet. Http serves as a request and response process that all as well as accurately circulated between servers, which hold info, as well as clients.

Google bot will crawl, rank and index https pages as long as there is no login (or similar) restricting the bot from entering.

https is a secure connection, and mostly shopping sites has this type of connection. Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with SSL/TLS protocol to provide encrypted communication and secure identification of a network web server.

Everything that needs to be said has been said. Thread closed.
