i am affected by this Google Update … there is 50% decrement in My Backlinks… don’t know why?? i haven’t use any Submission tool for Submissions in Directory…but it happens to me!!
My traffic has been up by 7% since the roll-out of Penguin 2.0. I haven’t done anything different. Suggestions? Keep following the same advice that we’ve been giving you for the last five years – Google is chasing the same goal that it always has done, it’s just getting better at filtering out all the people who are trying to beat the system. So don’t bother trying to beat them – just follow their recommendations.

wait till the mud gets settled and we can understand which profiles are affected and which profiles have increased in ranking

Pengiun 2.0 update affect the data entry work. If you more submission work like social bookmarking, directory submission of one sites then as per new update they declared it as spamming. And it affect the ranking of our sites.
Penguin 2.0 is Mostly affected to pornsites, Gaming Sites, Some Blog sites and Some major Brands; And mainly is affects to 2.3% of English Query with the Webspam.
Its majorly affect to the Germany Language. You may go for “Search Engine Land” which gives you actual idea of Google Penguin Update.
After penguin update, my site position has increased. My site was 13 page of Google, after update it is on 10 page. Build high quality and relevant backlinks.
15% increase in traffic of my website and ranked in top 5 among most competitive keywords and my secret is 95% no-follow links… Its worth having no follow links and much more the do-follow.
I hope this is the reason why my site has gone up.
Can anyone explained me this?

My website is also affected by this update and after penguin 2.0 update it seems that directory & bookmarking submission is a waste of time.
I don’t believe a word of it. Google would certainly not promote a site because 19 out of every 20 links to it were self-seeded, which is what nofollow links invariably are. I’m not saying that alastair’s site isn’t doing well, but it won’t be because of that.

I don’t. I make really good content in a site that is easy and rewarding to use, and the links just build themselves, people want to share the site with others. That’s your goal, and that is what Google wants as well.
Here, here! I’m so happy to see someone here say this, Stevie D. The sites we have that tend to do the best in the search engines are ones that we do practically no backlink building at all to. Instead, we create content that people will want to read and share or, if it is an eCommerce website, we try to make it the best possible resource for information about the products. The links take care of themselves if it is a truly great website.
In this business, “If you build it, they will come” doesn’t work at all. If you change that sentence to “If you build it better than everyone else, they will come” the sentence rings very true!

Hi everybody.
Let’s say that i have a good website with good content but i have many competitors! What are the linking strategies i can still use safely after google last panda update? What i mean if i want to rank higher for a specific keyword which has medium competition then i need more backlinks,right? So how can i get more backlinks without violating google rules?

We have been effected by the panda update but not much. There are some 10% decline in our overall traffic and ranking.
My website affeceted by penguin 2.0 update. also my site backlink have around 20% decrease and alexa rank increased in 7 digit.
Well I believe in getting quality links and most of the quality sites are offering no follow links… For me user is everything and Google is secondary. My percentage is low and 5-10 links from a do follow site with exact match along with plenty of no follow satisfies the need of both user and search engine. Few and quality links fewer chances of being penalized 
And that is what Google says. Don’t go for SEO instead for for marketing and you will see boost.
