WP security plugins

which security plugin do you think perfect for wordpress latest version?
Do you use it now in your blog?

I’m currently using Wordfence which is free but also has a premium license you can get to unlock some other features that improve the security of your site, it also includes email notifications so you can find out what files have been changed after the last completed scan which I have found to be extremely handy.

Another plugin I would recommend you try as well is “Login Lockdown” which prevents users from trying to spam the login window for your site.

I once used “Limit Login Attempts”
it also work well.

What do these plugins good for? Are they effective to block spammers?

You can read about what the plugins do at the following links:

For spam prevention look into Akismet which I have been using for the last year and found to work really well.

The question is very generalized. You need to be very specific on the type of Security you are looking for in your latest install. There are many Security Plugins available but each having its own use and purpose.

SQL Injection
Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
CSRF
Directory traversal
Remote file inclusion
Several DoS conditions
And many more, including all of the OWASP Top Ten security vulnerabilities.
and SPAM.

For Spam Protection you can use AKISMET but for overall site security, you can use 6 Scan Security and Better WP Security together.

What security plug-ins would you consider as being mandatory for any WordPress site? I’m talking spam protection, sql injection, everything…

I always install Better WP Security and Wordfence and login lockdown, but am wondering if there’s any important ones I’m missing and I’d like to have a list of security plugins I should always install for every WP site I develop.
