Xataface

I’m kind of curious if anyone here has tinkered with Xataface yet? I ran across mention of it over in the the [URL=“http://ubuntuforums.org/”]Ubuntu Linux forums, when someone was looking for a M$ Access replacement for Linux. I’m not sure its quite that, but given that one of the goals of the project is to make simple CRUD apps that would normally be built with Filemaker (rough analog of M$ Access but primarily for Macs)… it might get there. I’m just working thru the ‘Getting Started’ tutorial, and so far I’m liking what I’m seeing. It might not be a replacement for everything, but it sure seems like it might make generating basic CRUD apps for the local intranet pretty simple!

I’m interested in what some of the more experienced folks around here think of it…

Why not SQLite? Its built right into PHP.
No additional software required.

Are you asking ‘why they didn’t use SQLite instead of MySQL?’ or are you suggesting SQLite instead of Xataface, in which case you obviously didn’t even look at it.
