I want work
I can write such a discourse on PHP/MySql is not a problem.
OK. (Discourse itself is Ruby - one of the main reasons SitePoint decided to use it.)
I can also put it on the engine discourse if it is really necessary
I’m not quite sure what you mean by that. I don’t think SitePoint is looking to change their theme just yet (this version is less than a year old) so presumably this is an exercise for your own satisfaction, and it’s up to you what you do with it.

Fixed - great.

I’m confused but I am really enjoying the discussion, can I just say…

Not to be the bearer of bad news but you’re not going to get work by posting random “redesigns” of this forum. These isn’t anything even better about your redesigns it is just all fluff.

I can’t even get it to load. :disappointed:

You’re a bit harsh!

You never know who is looking but we’ll see when the work is finished. For the moment, I like our design better but I do appreciate the effort he’s putting into it. We’ll see when he’s finished.

Also, if you don’t have a portfolio, creating a fake one is a good idea. Of course, you do need to warn in advance that it is your own version, and not a real job. But still, you can show what you can do.

@webch the point is, you don’t need to impress us here, we aren’t the ones that will hire you.

It is good to have a portfolio of sites that you done, or at least a site with examples.

If you can explain in more detail what information you have gotten from Odesk we may able to help with that.

If you have given up on Odesk, make sure you have some good examples.

If you want honest (and as you have seen, potentially brutal) feedback and suggestions on how to improve a design (or at least reassurance that it is good), you can start a new topic discussion and it should help you get any examples from being good to being impressive so you’ll have a better chance of getting work.

Simply shotgun applying before you’re ready is likely to fail and lead to frustration

@Mittineague This is the reason

@webch needs to improve his English skills and stop using translations. But of course, for a site that’s international, you need to speak Engish properly. As you can see in this topic, the translator doesn’t always do a good job

Ah, I missed that, thanks. Then the best suggestion I can make for getting help here is asking for a Content Review instead of a Design Review.

You’re a bit naive or hopefully just trying to be nice.

Nevertheless as Mittineague pointed out *most people here would not be your target market.

People expect a resume and body of work. Simply posting a design on a forum is not nearly enough to gauge competence. That is more or less what I mean by posting designs on here as a waste of time. Employers who do anything else are taking on a whole lot of risk which doesn’t speak to highly of their business practices or they just don’t care.

I guess a bit of both

You never know who is looking at a forum and I know of people that has gotten jobs through the forum because someone else looked at the examples shown… so it is possible yet a bit of a lottery. And I normally don’t trust the lottery to get work my way.

On the other hand, if he claims that he so good, he does well to prove it. Although, as usual, it will not be for everyone’s taste.

It is also something that he could showcase and show in his portfolio, as his vision of what the forum should look. As such, he could show it to potential clients. So it is not a completely useless work.

lol I do not need work here (although I do not refuse), I simply show that no can`t find a job when there are so good at making websites.
and I do not like my version of the website, so I just want to do better, it will not be soon)
So I will throw off the site is updated and innovation here, it is interesting to me, and if you want you’re talking like it or not

You really lost me here. I don’t understand what it means.

It is good that you’re confident with your abilities but definively, if you need to use a translation tool to do business, you will not be able to.

Understanding what a customer needs is essential. It is what will ensure that you get paid and that you don’t work more than it is necessary.

But also, your customer needs to understand what you say.

Translators only go that far. Even the best translator can’t do a proper job because a translator doesn’t know your intentions.

Even in our native languags, communication can be a big deal and there are misunderstandings every day.

I’d say that you’d be better off working for people that you can communicate directly, without a translator in the middle.

@molona hi! I teach English, I would not write here if in my country was the work
uffff odesk now asking for my passport, in the beginning they just wanted a photo, and then asked for credit card information, and now a passport, they went !!! hate absolutely no conscience !! ask if you ask for it all at once I was tired though! advise another similar sites but please not with marasmus.
about the forum, sorry yesterday I had a birthday and I could not finish today or tomorrow is updated. I will write here (sorry I can not upload images)

You need to read a few other topics besides your own and then you will be able to.

Thank U

I’ll do a better version soon (new design)

It means:
“So i will make new updated version of that mockup, i’m interested in it, and then you’ll say how do you feel about it.”

He meant “I learn English”.
This is a real good example why auto translators are bad.
The trick is in russian we can say “я учу” and it means either “I teach” or “I learn” depending on context.

There is software to translate to different languages (many free) and there is grammar correction software (many free). Also there are forums to help correct the webpage, no matter the problem. The forums help advertise your ability.
You need examples of your work, try and make several webpages on different subjects and in different languages. Remember, England English, Australian English and US English are a little different. In England a car has a boot and US it is a trunk also a bonnet is a hood, so you will need help.
If you need help finding the free software, I will list some for you.
hope this helps
